7 SOUTHERN DISHES EVERYONE SHOULD TRY AT LEAST ONCE

Are you a Southerner? Well, if you answered “yes,” you’ll most likely agree that there are certain dishes that are the epitome of Southern cuisine.

And guess what? A lot of the dishes on the menu at The Beast by Todd English have a Southern flavor to them that you will not want to miss.

But don’t take our word for it. We all know how delicious Southern dishes are, so here are all the different items that you should try at least once in your life, no matter which part of America you live in. So keep reading!

  1. Junk Yard Nachos

The best meals all start with appetizers, and we have the best ones for you to indulge in. The Junk Yard Nachos have that Southern spin to them, with the addition of smoked pulled pork on fried tortilla chips and black bean corn salsa.

We also added some avocado salsa, cilantro, shredded cheese, and smokehouse BBQ sauce to seal the deal. Your belly will be ready for whatever else you want to throw at it once you have this starter.

  1. Southwest Chopped Salad

If you want some Southern flavoring but without all the added calories, then this salad is it. It has baby gem lettuce, roasted corn, black bean, cherry tomatoes, red onion, pepper jack cheese, avocado, and Spanish chorizo.

It comes with a Spanish vinaigrette which you can get tossed with the salad or on the side as you prefer it. Also, you can add additional protein to your salad, like salmon, shrimp, or chicken, for a small extra cost.

  1. Buffalo Chicken Wings

Where would America be without its buffalo-drenched chicken wings? This dish has taken over not only the nation but worldwide as the epitome of delicious Southern-inspired cuisine.

We have many different flavors for wings, but this one is one of the more popular ones. You can also substitute any wings for cauliflower wings if you are vegan or vegetarian.

  1. Haystack BBQ Burger

Hungry for a burger prepared Southern-style? Well, try out the Haystack BBQ burger.

It comes with two beef patties, butter lettuce, pepper jack cheese, crushed avocado, pickled Fresno chili, and chipotle mayo.

It’s delicious and filling and will not leave you hankering for anything else after. Also, you can add a side of fries for $4 (either Parmesan fries, regular fries, or sweet potato fries).

  1. Smoke House BBQ Chicken Pizza

The great thing about Southern food is that it’s so versatile. Even pizza nowadays can be recreated with Southern flavoring.

And that’s what we have done with our Smoke House BBQ Chicken pizza. It has grilled chicken on it, bacon, red onion, mozzarella, and BBQ sauce. If you love BBQ sauce, you are going to love this pizza.

You can even ask for extra sauce on the side, so you can dip your pizza in there. After all, you can never have enough BBQ sauce, right?

If you are trying to go gluten-free, you can substitute the regular crust for a cauliflower-based one.

  1. Vegan Buffalo Pizza

If you are vegan or vegetarian, this doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on Southern food. In the past, Southern cuisine was predominantly meat-based.

But nowadays, food is creative, versatile, and inclusive. Try this vegan pizza with Beyond Meat sausage, roasted cauliflower, vegan cheese, coconut buffalo sauce, and parsley.

You will wonder why you lived without it after you taste it once. It’s that good.

  1. St. Louis Ribs

Ribs are quintessentially Southern in flavoring, and that’s why you don’t want to miss out on these. St. Louis Ribs are house-smoked and basted with a sauce and rib rub. They are then served with a side of cornbread and pickled veggies.

You can get either a 1/2 rack or a full one, depending on how many people in your party or how hungry you are.

  1. Black Pepper Dry Rub Brisket

Another iconic Southern dish is the brisket. It’s a beef brisket that has been rubbed and slowly smoked for 14-16 hours.

The meat just falls off the bone, tender, juicy, and filled with flavor. Is your mouth watering just thinking about this dish?

Well, what are you waiting for? Try it out today.

  1. The Beast Sandwich

You can also try the brisket in a sandwich format if you don’t like the idea of using a fork and knife. Chopped brisket, a hot link, and pickled onions on bread  – now that’s what we are talking about!

Pick that sandwich up and sink your teeth into it. There’s no better way to enjoy that slow-cooked brisket.

  1. Smoky S’mores Root Beer Float

Who doesn’t love a good ice cream-based dessert? We have the best one at our restaurant, where you can have vanilla ice cream, charred marshmallows, and root beer licorice all mixed in together to create a root beer float that’s to die for.

Don’t believe us? Well, you will have to come in to try it out. Let us know if it matches up to your expectations when you do.
